With half the size of Germany but only half the population of Switzerland, Uruguay has plenty of fertile land for agricultural production. Agriculture plays an important part in the history and the identity of Uruguay and still contributes about 10% to GDP. Fertile soil and typically sufficient rain favors the production of agricultural products. The bovine industry in Uruguay is characterized by its traditional way of farming. Free range cattle solely grazing on green pastures. From a marketing perspective this way of farming can count on a high demand from certain groups of consumers willing to pay extra for an animal that had the best life predicate.
How does
it work?
You are signing an investment contract with a Trust under Uruguayan law. This Trust administers the fund and ensure the proper usage of funds by Agro Insumos San Agustin (AISA). The use of the funds is tied exclusively to the acquisition of cattle.
Each animal is individually registered in an official register for cattle in Uruguay. This enables us to have the herd guarantying at all-time the investment. In order to increase the loan collateral value, AISA or its partners guarantee to invest a minimum of 15% of the herd from own capital.
This structure and the fact that the cattle grows in value as they gain weight, ensures a high degree of protection of your investment.

Estancia
Las marianas
Estancias Las Marianas and San Joaquin are located in the northwest of Uruguay about 300 km north of the capital, Montevideo.
These Estancias comprise of approximately 3,000 ha of farmland and forestation, enough to feed approx. 2.500 head of best Uruguayan Cows.
The project consists of purchasing young cattle for fattening in various cycles over approximately 15 month, until the cattle has reached the optimal weight for sale to abattoir.
The cattle will feed 100% on natural pastures. During winter times we add additional green feed, produced on our own farmland.
The cattle will be looked after and managed by our partner Agro Insumos San Agustín de Uruguay.
San Agustín Agri Invest offers an investment opportunity to become a farmer and participate in the acquisition, feeding and sale of cows for meat production, with an expected return of approx. 6%-10%. Please contact us for further information.
Terms
- The investment period is approx. 9 months feeding period.
- Minimum investment is USD 10.000, which needs to be paid in full before start of crop season.
- Expected return is 8% p.a.
- Investment currency is USD .
- Fund administration fee is 2.5% p.a- 3% p.a.
OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS
Our investment projects are calculated solidly.
Many years and experience over generations in the agriculture business are a guarantor that the risks of your investment are very well managed . Nevertheless the indicated return of the investment is only an estimation and vary according to number of variables. Especially the variation of market prices for the respective agricultural products mean both an opportunity and a risk to the return of the investment.
Uruguay has temperate climate and can count on sufficient rainfall. Nevertheless, weather is a risk factor and can have negative impact on the investment. Force majeure such as draught, diseases etc , but also political risk may impact the return of the investment. Even though, highly unlikely, a total loss of the invested money may occur.
